Vectra Premium Wlaker Boot Experience - Firs time user

Achilles Tendon surgery to remove calicum and heel spur due to chronic inflammation. 1st time for surgery, never a cast on a limb, soft hand cast once for boxers break on hand.

Much better than a cast. Due to padding, sole of boot, requires more effort due to the difference in foot heights. Liner has venting strip in back without padding, soft foam filled sides that overlap when leg is in boot.

I find it hot, heavy and awkward to remove and replace when alone. The weight of the boot causes my foot to pronate at night resulting in knee pain in the morning.

What I do not understand is why these units have to be so heavy and hot. Suggestions for improvement would be to extend the ventilated material as much as possible, soft foam only where straps press to body surfaces. Quick clips are an idea instead of the super long velcrow straps or a combination of the two.

Better engineering to reduce the foot height difference for walking with a forearm crutch.

Doctor has stated that I need to wear at night for protection of surgery area and to prevent anytype of undue stress that would over extend the tendons. I would think by now that someone would develop a night splint, thermo formed material that could meet these requirements. This is what I was given for my boxer break and it was super comfortable. This type of night splint would be set and formed prior to surgery by the doctors.

Thank you

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and suggestions on our walker boot. We are always looking for ways to improve our products and make them even better. One suggestion: if you are having issues with your foot pronating at night, try using a blanket or pillow to prop your leg/foot in a position that prevents the pronation. Thank you again for your feedback and use of the Vectra™ Premium Walker boot. Best wishes for a fast recovery!
